I have always been interested in how poetry can respond to the Zeitgeist, and how its pictorial and rhythmical components can be presented through moving pictures. This interest, coupled with its visual and rhythmic elements, led me to explore the convergence of poetic expression with moving images. In a world immersed in music, visuals, and storytelling, poetry provides a unique avenue for creative exploration through words. I have consistently sought to integrate diverse artistic mediums with technology, embarking on a journey of experimentation and discovery.
In 2008, supported by the Municipality of Pančevo, I initiated the project titled “The Quiet Renewal of the Summer” – a video presentation featuring poetry in both Serbian and English. Completed in 2009, the project comprises 10 video works, each narrating poetic tales. I recited the poems in Serbian, while Ljubica Landeka, serving as the narrator, presented the same in English. The recordings took place in Pančevo and were compiled into a DVD format, with selected artistic videos also available on YouTube.
This endeavor yielded an artistic outcome that transcended conventional perceptions of both poetry and video work. Through the amalgamation of images, music, verses, and movements, a unique layer of perception emerged. While this approach may deviate from the classical understanding of poetry, the video format introduced a distinct visualization, offering a fresh perspective and deeper comprehension of the poetic content.
The project was reintroduced in 2014 during the AIR program RONDO in Graz, Austria. As part of the group exhibition titled “I Have Something But It Would Be Big,” held in Murau near Graz, I presented the video works as an installation within the exhibition space.
