Welcome to my website. My name is Jasmina Topić, and I am a writer and poet from Serbia. Alongside literature, I have a strong interest in exploring the connections between poetry—my primary artistic focus—and other forms of creative expression. Ever since I began writing, I have been fascinated by the ways poetry can interact with different artistic media. This has led me to participate in a variety of theatre and poetry performances, produce a DVD featuring video adaptations of my poems, create an audio CD on which speakers of different languages read my poetry, and, most recently, record a singer-songwriter album inspired by the poems from my still-current poetry collection Temporary Residence.
Although I am primarily recognized on the Serbian and regional literary scene as a poet, I also write fiction, essays, and literary criticism. In addition, I work as an editor, moderator of literary events, and creative writing instructor. In 2012, I founded Najbolja, a contemporary poetry series based in Pančevo, Serbia, where I continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief. I am also the Editor-in-Chief of Rukopisi, the anthology of poetry and short fiction by emerging writers from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, published by the Pančevo Youth Center since 1976. For the past five years, I have been leading the Rukopisi Literary Workshop at the Pančevo Youth Center, as well as the online Small Poetry Workshop, mentoring aspiring writers and helping them develop their literary voices.
On this website you will find information about my work, a detailed biography, audio and video recordings, and an overview of both my past projects and current activities. I hope you will find the content engaging, informative, and inspiring. If my work resonates with you, I would be delighted to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to learn more about my work.
May art continue to inspire us all!
Jasmina topic
Jasmina Topić (born 4 August 1977 in Pančevo) is a Serbian writer best known for her poetry. Although poetry is her primary focus, she also writes short prose and essays. In addition to her work as a writer, she is a literary critic and reviewer, a creative writing tutor, and a moderator of literary events in her hometown.
She holds leading editorial roles in two major literary projects. She is the editor-in-chief of Najbolja (The Best), a contemporary poetry book series (published by the Association of Writers and Literary Translators of Pančevo), and of Rukopisi (Manuscripts), an annual anthology featuring poetry and short prose by young authors from across the former Yugoslavia. Published by the Pančevo Youth Centre as part of a literary competition, Rukopisi also extends beyond print, culminating in a three-day literary festival organised by the Youth Centre.
Jasmina Topić’s literary bibliography currently includes seven poetry collections, a selected poems volume, and numerous stories and essays published in literary journals and thematic collections (see the Bibliography section below). She has also contributed articles, columns, and essays to print and online publications throughout the former Yugoslavia. From 2000 to 2010, she worked as a freelance journalist, gaining extensive experience that continues to inform her literary practice.
She maintains long-standing collaborations with several cultural institutions in Pančevo and is also employed as a high school librarian. She has established literary workshops for aspiring writers, helping nurture emerging literary talent. Her poetry has been translated into several languages and included in significant anthologies and selections of Serbian and contemporary poetry from the former Yugoslavia.
Her artistic practice often extends beyond the printed page, as she explores the possibilities of presenting poetry through performance and multimedia projects. Her work also brings poetry and music together, culminating in the release of her first original music album, Privremeni boravak (Temporary Stay), in 2023, based on her poetry collection of the same title.
Jasmina Topić is a member of the Association of Writers and Literary Translators of Pančevo and the Serbian Literary Society, one of Serbia’s leading literary associations, on whose Steering Committee she has served on two separate occasions. Outside her literary work, she enjoys playing tennis and contributing to her family’s small-scale wine production.
A selection of books, poetry, prose, essays, anthology contributions, international publications, literary reviews, interviews and editorial work by Jasmina Topić.
